Course Overview
The Bather Brusher Course is a short course for those wanting to enter the industry and get a job quickly. It is designed to produce a competent bather/brusher, and is flexible for grooming industry beginners or for those wanting to operate their own bathing/brushing business (such as a mobile hydro-bath).
Students receive training on most aspects of basic salon operation, coat types, zoonoses, bathing, drying and brushing techniques, anatomy, breeds, equipment, OHS, animal welfare, legal issues, client management, waste management, hygiene and sanitation, restraint and welfare, ears, eyes, nails, and more.
Entry Requirements
To be eligible for this Bather Brusher course, you must:
Be at least 16 years old
Completed Year 10 or Equivalent
Access to a computer, laptop or tablet
Internet access and email address
Proficiency in speaking and writing in English
Physically capable of restraining animals, handling animals and standing for extended periods of time
Course Subjects (units)
While completing the Bather Brusher Course from the Pet Stylist Academy, you will study the following subjects:
ACMCAS301 Work effectively in the companion animal industry
ACMGAS206 Provide basic first aid for animals
ACMCAS307 Provide companion animal hydro-bathing services
Course Delivery
Students have up to 12 months to complete the Bather Brusher Course. However, many students are able to complete their study within this time frame based upon the amount of hours dedicated to study each week.
The course program is taught using a blended approach (Online & Practical Training).
Online
The course is delivered online which means students are not required to attend classes or lectures. Students will receive access to our 'Learning Portal' where they will find the course materials, interactive learning materials, videos and assessments. In addition, students will also receive a hard copy of the Learner Resource.
While studying online, students will have access to our teaching support team via email, online chat or phone. Our teaching team will help support and guide students every step on their journey.
Practical Training
The practical training (hands-on) is completed at the academy under the guidance and support of our qualified teachers and groomers for one week full time. This ensures the student is taught the hands-on skills required to become a bather/brusher while being guided by our team. During the practical training, students have access to a range of dog breeds to wash and dry and are able to practice their skills in a safe environment.
On successful completion of the course, students will receive a Statement of Attainment for the Certificate III in Animal Care Services (Pet Grooming) ACM30122 qualification that shows the units that the student completed.
Course Fees
The full fee for the course fee is $1,500.
Students have a choice of paying the full amount up-front, or you can take advantage of one of the Pet Stylist Academy's easy interest free payment plans.
